The BullRing
Sharing their experiences, emotions, and insights
The 2024 Awards and 2025 registration Banquet, held at the Club at Silver Lake in Perry, New York, was a resounding success. The warm weather and the gathering of racers created an electrifying atmosphere, generating excitement for the upcoming 2025 season. Trophies were presented to the top three drivers in each division.
We had the privilege of hearing from various drivers, sharing their experiences, emotions, and insights. Laughter, tears, and intense competition filled the air as we discussed new faces, track improvements, and our hopes for the 2025 season.
One particularly inspiring moment came when Mike Chenaille , an SST Super Stock driver who secured a second-place finish in the #20 car, shared his journey. Chenaille described the 2024 season as both his greatest and most challenging. He recounted the exhilaration of winning his first-place race and the subsequent emotional rollercoaster when he faced a life-threatening stroke right after the win. Despite the setback, Chenaille's determination and resilience shone through as he pushed himself to recover and return to the track.
The news that Chenaille would not be able to race this year was met with heavy disappointment from the crowd. However, they stood and clapped for him, showing their unwavering support. The Bullring Community is a place where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of whether they’re on the track or not.
Derrick Vogler #51 also shared his triumph, winning his first championship in the 2024 season. He expressed the joy of driving side by side with his father, Chris Vogler, a renowned NYSS Sanction race organizer. The experience of achieving first place with his grandfather watching was truly special.
Unfortunately, we lost a great, loving, and dedicated man known to the racing community, Don Vogler (Race Director) Derrick’s grandfather. The absence of Don will undoubtedly be felt, but if you hear a radio glitch, it’s likely him, still keeping an eye on the action.
In addition to Derrick Vogler’s championship win, we also heard from Ryan Nugent #42, who secured the fourth-place spot; Billy Mislin #99, who won the third-place award; Tom Alloco #6, who took the second-place position; and Daniel Majchrzak #14, who was crowned the SST modified season champion. Since the group was a bit smaller, it was an excellent opportunity to experiment with new changes, try unconventional strategies, and ultimately, they all came together to support one another. We also spoke with Frank Parson #14JR, who won the third-place; Bradley Shaw #48, who won the second-place award; and John Parthemer #95, who was crowned the season champion in the 6-cyl stock division, all drivers who exemplify the camaraderie and support within the racing community.
The G-Dog Pro 4 division is one of the most competitive, Dave Heimes always goes above and beyond for this class. Awards were presented to Jacob Black filling in for Season champion Eric Black #76, Nick Bevacqua, father of 2nd place Joey Bevacqua #41 and 3rd place Eric Szychowski #N10 this is a division that is one to watch.
The 4-Cyl Stock division 2024 Season championship Matt Hurlburt #14M, 2nd place Joshua Shattuck #22F and 3rd place Bradley Richardson #22 weren’t present to receive their awards but were highlighted, a new division added to the season last year.
A big shoutout to everyone who makes this possible and supports the BullRing racing community and facility. Thank you, Chris Vogler and his family, for supplying cake to celebrate all the winners. We also want to express our gratitude to the club at Silver Lake for hosting us. Dave Heimes’ presence and unwavering support were invaluable. Betsy Adamczaks dedication to the back gate was truly commendable. John and Deb’s efforts in keeping the facility looking and running great are truly appreciated. Greg Hurlburt, the head safety director, and his crew ensured the safety of every driver and official on the track. All the officials, including Doug (head Flagger), Keith (turn 4 flagger), Mike (back flagger), Don Vogler (race director) Dave (race director), and the support teams, including Sarah (EMS), Ken (EMS), Dale (safety), Dan (announcer), Dan (EMS/Fuel), Teresa (back and front gate), Liz (back and front gate), Bob (gate security), Deb (scorer), Melissa (assistant scorer), Jim (Mylaps/scoreboard), our concession’s crew, and the Kuhlkin family, Jim and Polly (owners), and all our sponsors, are truly appreciated.
