Wyoming County International Speedway Announces
Shootout at the Bullring SST 100 to Become,Â Jim Pierce Memorial SST 100
Wyoming County International Speedway will honor Jim Pierce, a racer who competed at WCIS, with the naming of the October 14th Shootout at the Bullring SST 100 in his honor.Â Pierce passed away suddenly at the age of 47 on August 5th, 2017.

In his #26 SST Modified, Pierce captured multiple feature wins at Wyoming County Speedway as well as a 2007 SST Modified Championship.Â He also took home feature wins at Lancaster National Speedway, Holland Speedway, Lake Erie Speedway and competed at other local tracks in Western New York.Â In addition, his son â€“ Jim Pierce Jr. â€“ raced his 4 Cylinder at WCIS to multiple wins and a second place points finish in the 2016 season with father serving as the sonâ€™s crew chief.
â€œWe are truly honored to be able to show tribute to not only a fellow racer, but a friend by running the Shootout SST 100 as the Jim Pierce Memorial.Â Jim was a respected competitor at WCIS who was not only a great racer but one of the â€˜good guysâ€™ in racingâ€?, stated track owner Jim Majchrzak.
A â€œLucky 15â€? Lap Money program for the drivers will be taking place for the Jim Pierce Memorial SST 100 and will be run by Lori Overdorf.Â Laps are a minimum of $26 each in honor of Pierceâ€™s racing number and are now available for purchase.Â Specialty awards such as Hard Charger, Hard Luck, and more are available for sponsorship as well.Â 100% of the lap money raised will go towards the drivers participating in the memorial race.Â To purchase a lap, please contact Lori at email@example.com or at 716-207-2824.
In addition to the lap money, a custom trophy is being designed by Dennis Murphy and RNE Precision.Â Additional bonuses for participating drivers are also in development.
The Shootout at the Bullring, slated for October 14th and 15th, 2017 will feature some of the best racers from the east coast, all vying for the checkered flag.Â Saturdayâ€™s events will feature the Jim Pierce Memorial SST 100, NYSS 51 Championship, 6 Cylinders, 4 Cylinders, and Vintage Late Models while Sunday will feature the American Racer 100 for tour-type Modifieds, WCIS Super Stocks, Legends, and C.A.M.S.
