The BullRing
Proposed Merger of Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks & SST SuperStocks
Perry, NY —
Currently in development for the 2026 season, officials at the BullRing are working toward aligning rules across Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, and SST SuperStocks to make it easier for teams to transition and compete at the Perry 1/3-mile oval.
Our primary focus is creating a place for Southern Tier Hobby Stock teams to race next season. In addition, we are exploring rule adjustments that would welcome regional Street Stock teams and give them the opportunity to compete at Perry as well.
The loss of racetracks—and eventually race teams—is not healthy for short-track racing. While we understand that many teams will ultimately return to their home tracks once promoter agreements are finalized, the officials and racers of WCIS are committed to keeping this stock car division strong and moving forward in the meantime.
Since Covid, the greatest growth has been seen in the SST SuperStock division. Despite the name suggesting a more advanced class, Perry’s consistent rule package has kept SST SuperStocks largely unchanged for many years, while other tracks have advanced their rules around them. Because of this, we believe it is possible to temporarily merge select outside rules at minimal cost to racers, then revisit permanent changes for the following season.
The success of the infamous Duct Tape Nationals during the Shootout at the BullRing has already proven this concept works. Traveling teams compete exceptionally well in what has become one of the most exciting SuperStock events of the season. Drivers from across the region gather in the hills overlooking Silver Lake for a weekend of great camping, competition, and racing—and we want that same energy all season long.
If you’re interested in this idea, please reach out. A group meeting can be scheduled after the holidays.
