Memorial Races Will Become The Theme Of 2026
Perry NY
Short track Stock Car racing around the Northeast officially began around 1960. By this time, Super Speedways had begun construction and the great race on the beach of Daytona had done its job attracting a variety of interests to the sport.
Young drivers were preparing their racing machines in every gas station, repair shop and back yard across the region. The thrill of cars racing around at high speed, on the edge of control, made heroes out of the common mechanic. Fans became involved as crew members, officials and announcers. Local newspapers highlighted the events as a reputable local sport…. with a rebellious James Dean attitude!
That first generation of great racers and fans stimulated interest of the next generation of kids who played behind the grandstands in the 70’s and 80’s hoping one day to become a Stock Car Racer themselves…. But those Racers have gotten older…and many have passed too soon, taking their final lap and checkered flag.
Their desire and dedication to the sport has become a big part of our History at Perry...Wyoming County and The BullRing. The list continues to grow unfortunately, so during the 2026 season, we have decided to honor some of our heroes that have left their mark on our region’s stock car racing industry.
We encourage involvement from family and friends to help with the celebration and promotion. We have contacted some but still need assistance from others. Our Race schedule of dates throughout the season has been set, and the following list has been made to honor their memory.
