It’s hard to believe that Stock Car Racing at the 1/3rd mile oval in Perry NY has been going on for 67 seasons. Inspired by Art Beardsley and Don Butler in 1959, with the first race in 1960, the motorsport spirit still lives on. Every season since Covid has been a rebuilding process for the industry, fortunately, we are starting to see the excitement return.
The best growth of 2026 is the true Stock Car Division, known in the Northeast as the SST Superstocks. A full bodied, rear wheel drive, reflection of the Cup Cars that graced the super speedways though out the mid-80’s. Mostly powered by a small block chevy, simple and fast. The suspension has evolved over the years that makes a team have to think and prepare for each event. Air pressure…camber angle…control arm length…spring rate…shock compression…etc... The excitement in the Pits developing the right set-up and excitement in the grandstands to see which driver will make it to the checkered flag without tearing a fender off!
We have been fortunate here at the BullRing that interest continues to grow. Last season we saw the return of veteran teams, and the hard charging competition of the Rookies. Father and son… Father and Daughter, on the track and in the Pit area at the same time…way cool for the fans.
This season will be no different, the interest from new teams may come from the year end “Duct Tape Nationals”. A name, given to the Superstock race of the Shootout at the BullRing two-day SST / ROC event. This is always a great time to see teams from other tracks participate in the hard charging prestigious race. They enjoy the competition, and plan to race the following season full time.
We are also catering to new teams spun off from the 4-cylinder division and crew members looking to join in the competition. Once you get your foot in the door as a BullRing Crew Member, it’s easy to find out the next step to becoming a competitor yourself.
With some Tracks not scheduled to open full time this season around the region, the opportunity to race at the BullRing may be a good way to entertain yourself this summer. Our Tech & Safety Officials are preparing the SST Superstock rule parameters to allow outside teams the ability to compete at WCIS with minor changes. This will fill the fields, make great racing and give the regional fans the ability to cheer on their local heroes.

Racing competition begins on Opening Day / Meet the Drivers / Sat. May 16th
