The BullRing
Weather Forces Opening Day Cancellation; May 23 Now Set as Official 2026 Season Opener at The BullRing
PERRY, NY — Reality has officially sunk in… about ankle-deep into the mud.
Unfortunately, Wyoming County International Speedway officials have made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend’s scheduled Opening Day event due to forecasted intermittent rain and a lack of warm sunshine needed to properly dry the facility. Saturated grounds and continued wet weather conditions have made it impossible to prepare the speedway for racing action.
While it is disappointing for racers and fans eager to kick off the season, safety and track conditions remain the top priority.
The good news: Saturday, May 23rd will now serve as the official Opening Day of the 2026 season at The BullRing.
The exciting night of racing will also feature several special activities, including Meet the Drivers trackside, along with honoring first responders, and military personnel. Kiddie Rides will be moved to Saturday June 20th, 2026.
The May 23 racing program is scheduled to include:
SST Modifieds
SST Super Stocks
G-Dog Pro 4
4-Cylinder Stocks
VRC Vintage Race Cars
Although racing is postponed, teams will still have an opportunity to shake down their equipment this weekend.
Open Practice will be held Saturday from Noon–5:00 PM, with favorable daytime weather expected to allow teams to get laps and work out any early-season bugs before Opening Night.
Tires and fuel will be available throughout practice.
Track officials ask that all teams please keep haulers off the grass areas and utilize pit roadways and pit pads only for parking to help preserve facility conditions.
We’re all looking forward to another exciting season of Super Short Track racing and, of course, that great BullRing food. Stay patient and stay excited — we’ll be here before you know it.
