Memorial Day Weekend at The BullRing

PERRY, NY May 31st 2023

The 2023 season kicked off with opening day here at the The Bullring May 27th, 2023. It was a beautiful sunny day... perfect for a night on the track. A special ceremony for Memorial Day weekend was held by Tommy Smith before the race to honor the men and women who died serving for our country, Brody Gullo A scout from Leicester boy scout troop 85 joined the officials and safety crew in a presentation of the flag.

Heat laps started off hot at 6:30 starting with the 4 cyl divisions #00 Jimmy Biggs Won in the first group and #41 Joey Bevacqua won in the second group. In the 6cly class #81 Phil Rodriguez Won in his heat. Russ Bulger Jr #32 won in the first grouping for the Super stocks. #30 Dylan Carbone Won his heat in the second grouping. Daniel Majchrzak #14 Won his heat in the SST Modifieds decision.

Intermission started right after the heat laps finished, bringing drivers and their cars to the track side for fans to come on out and meet their favorite drivers. Racers displayed their cars with hero cards, candy, toys, and flags to hand out. Fans got to sit in their favorite drivers’ seats and take an up-close look at all the different divisions of cars on display.

4 cyls started the features off #97 Mike Meyers coming in first #41 Joey Bevacqua second place and #8ny Bill Kenny in third place. 6 cyls #14 Frank Parsons and #81 Phil Rodriguez came in a battle for the lead, frank parsons sneaking to the outside trying to get around Rodriquez ended up sending him to the wall... that didn’t stop Parsons, he kept going. At winner’s circle #38 Mathew Moreau came in First place #148 Bradley Shaw 2nd place and #33 Paul Stolenberg 3rd place.

Russ Bulger Jr. #32 was hot on the laps... with #1 Robert Miszczak trailing behind him... Frank kline #33 following in third lost his positioning when his steering linkage broke throwing a caution on the track. Clayton Evans #34 and Mike Chenaille #20 colliding on turn 3 resulting in them both not finishing and trailing their cars. The caution didn’t slow Bulger down, finishing the race in first, # 1 Robert Miszczak following him in second and with only 300 laps in his lifetime and only being 15 years old #51 Derrick Vogler comes in 3rd.

SST Modifieds Allen Bookmiller #40 Daniel Majchrzak #14 and Billy Mislin #99 had an intense top three battle Switching positions every couple laps... it was hard to tell who was going to come out in first place. Mislin had a rough start to his day... on his way to the track his transmission blew on his totter home... Dave Russel from speed 77 coming to his rescue allowed him to get his truck and trailer to the track and back on track for some racing… Mislin went out for practice with half a lap in coming off the track noticing something wasn’t right… end result his motor was done he wasn’t going racing. Tim Garlock #88 was generous enough to let Billy Mislin run his car, and not be out of the game. Bookmiller and Majchrzak racing for top position, bumping into eachother resulted in a spin out for Majchrzak putting them to the back of the field. They regained their spots a couple laps in with mislin, bookmiller, and Majchrzak swapping first second and third. Bookmiller secured first place with Mislin and Majchrzak coming in a very close finish giving Majchrzak second place and Mislin 3rd place.

Next race will be Sunday June 11th ROC Asphalt sportsman’s, street stocks, and asphalt four cylinders…Racing starts at 2pm
